Wells, Maine

Here is a map of where we were today.

Yesterday, G and I studied the tide/surf charts and decided that optimum surfing would take place at 9am during high tide today.  I'm am usually chasing the low tide, now I am chasing the high tide! I rallied the troops and we were out the door at 7:45am!

The Wall: New Hampshire’s most consistent spot, works on all tides and swells. Best around mid tide in a due W wind, it’ll handle a bigger swell and usually keeps good shape. South of here there may be some waves breaking over various boulder reefs, but they are fickle, have difficult access, and require some local knowledge to score them when they’re on. Best left to the locals.

So, we were on our merry way and G looked down and what do you know? He left with his slippers on! I told him I would only turn around if he took a picture of them and emailed them to me! OMG, I was hysterical!

We got to The Wall and parked, I got out of the car and did a double take at a lady walking by and she did the same to me.  It was my photo friend Jane...walking by, recognized the kids from my pics online! The second Jane sighting this summer...where else will me meet?

Surf's up and G was a happy guy!

Jack, on the other hand, was still a bit tired.  Ty was in and out of the car.

More surf...

Then a miracle happened before my eyes!

A quick stop at Cinnamon Rainbows Surf Shop and one shiny new GoPro later...

By now, we are definitely ready for breakfast, so we head up the road to Uncle Dave's restaurant, Cafe Espresso, in Portsmouth, NH for a yummy breakfast!

We still had big plans for the day as this was my annual outing with friends to Wells, Maine.  My friend Krista has a home just a 5 minute walk from the ocean. We arrived by noon and met her along with Sue, Jeanne and their kids...I lost track of how many there were.  I do love a houseful of kids, especially when they are having so much fun.

Kids are great, they are so open to meeting new people, don't judge anyone and just get right down to playing and having fun.  As adults, we can learn a lot from them.

Danny just got a new surf board and G was now the instructor!  Not only does he surf be he can skim board too...he could go so long and twist about doing 360 degree turns etc...  Jack says this is the best skim boarding beach he has ever been to.

Then, there is the obligatory jump shot...I have been taking this same photo for the last 5 or 6 yrs or so...

The kids were pros this year...they know the drill and it took less than 60 seconds to get this shot!  Everyone is tired tonight! Tomorrow will probably be a "down day" as I have to take my mom out for part of the day.

A big thank you to Krista for hosting our get together today...G had fun and thought the families and kids were really nice and welcoming!

To be continued...
