Boston

We finally made it into Boston!  We started out near the Boston Public Garden and immediately the kids were drawn to all the "domesticated" squirrels.  They had them eating out of their hands!

Watch the video here...

We meandered thru the Public Garden and saw the Swan Boats but no one wanted a ride.

In the Boston Common, we went past the Frog Pond, and now, unfortunately, the boys are too old to be splashing around in it...they took a pass at the playground too!  Someday maybe they will take their own kids there.

We went past the State Capital Building, following the Freedom Trail and briefly went into the Kings Chapel.

I thought the pews had an interesting history.  The church goers actually paid for their pews, about $650 annually.  It protected them from the cold winter drafts.  They brought blankets and their dogs to keep their feet warm and decorated their pews as they saw fit.

King's Chapel, designed by Peter Harrison, was constructed on land taken from the burying ground. To insure the presence of the Church of England in America, King James II ordered an Anglican parish to be built in Boston. Since none of the colonists were interested in selling suitable land for the Church, the King ordered Governor Andros to seize a corner of the burying ground for the Church of England.  King's Chapel Burying Ground is the oldest burying place in Boston proper.

We saw some street performers at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. By then, my boys had had enough walking.  We grabbed some Italian Ice and made it back to the car.  There is still lots more to see in the city, so we will be back!

Here is G's short movie trailer
